Follow Your Dreams
I am a qualified art teacher having spent nearly 30 years in both primary and secondary education. After leaving my last teaching position in 2016, I felt an overwhelming desire to fulfil a long held dream of offering a creative space to the community; a space open to all ages and abilities. In 2017 that dream came true and Art Jam Studio was created. For six happy years, Art Jam Studio served the community of Caversham in Reading, Berkshire offering a space for me to continue teaching and encourage others to be creative.
The time came for a lifestyle change, otherwise known as retirement, and the dream of moving to the country was soon to become a reality.
A move to the country
In 2023, after moving to Devon and closing the studio in Caversham, a new home was found for Art Jam Studio. A new beginning in the beautiful Devon countryside, and a stark contrast from high street passing trade to country lane passing tractors, pheasants and sheep. Three years on and enjoying the quieter, slower pace of life, the garden studio seemed to need a new name. For three years of looking out at the road sign opposite our drive, a new name for the studio was staring me in the face. Claypit Studio was a fairly obvious and natural name.
